Wes Okafor - Owner
I started this operation in 2016 after watching too many homeowners in Kendall County get a verbal estimate on Tuesday and a surprise invoice on Friday. Before that, I spent eleven years in commercial building envelope work - hospitals, schools, the kind of jobs where a failed blower-door test stops the certificate of occupancy. I hold a BPI Building Analyst certification and I’m the one who still climbs into every attic on every estimate, because you can’t price what you haven’t seen. Off the job, I keep a small herd of goats on a place near Welfare that my wife claims are “Wes’s stress management program.” They eat poison ivy better than any landscaper.
Marcus T. - Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us since 2019 and runs the crew on every spray foam and radiant barrier job in Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch. He’s certified in both open-cell and closed-cell application through Demilec and Icynene, and he’s the guy we send when a homeowner calls saying the last contractor “sprayed something that smells weird six months later.” Marcus grew up in a 1960s ranch house off Esser Road with no insulation in the walls - he still remembers his dad’s $400 electric bills in July 2003. He’ll tell you exactly why that happened, then show you the thermal camera image proving your house isn’t repeating the mistake.
Elena R. - Senior Installer
Elena specializes in our crawl space encapsulations and vapor barrier replacements, which in Boerne’s limestone-heavy soil means she’s seen more failed 6-mil poly sheeting than she cares to count. She’s been with us four years and holds a Crawl Space Encapsulation Specialist certification through the Basement Health Association. Before joining Topside, she did restoration work after the 2017 Harvey flooding in Houston - she can spot the difference between actual moisture intrusion and a condensation pattern in about thirty seconds. She keeps a collection of vintage band t-shirts under her coveralls and has strong opinions about breakfast tacos at the Dough Monkey.
James K. - Service Coordinator
James is the live voice that answers when you call (830) 529-7780 at 7:15 on a Saturday because your upstairs is fifteen degrees hotter than your downstairs. He’s been with us three years and he’s the one who schedules your appointment, texts you when the technician is en route, and makes sure your written scope, written price, and warranty documentation are ready before anyone pulls into your driveway. He grew up in Bandera and still commutes from there - he knows the difference between Boerne proper and the unincorporated pockets where Kendall County permitting rules shift. He’s also the reason we finally started carrying Spanish-language documentation; he noticed how many homeowners in the area were translating for their parents and built the template himself.
Darius W. - Apprentice Installer
Darius joined us in 2024 after two years in residential HVAC. He’s working through his BPI Envelope Professional certification and currently handles most of our blown-in cellulose and fiberglass jobs, plus attic cleaning and rodent proofing. The older guys give him grief because he actually reads the material data sheets - he can tell you the exact R-value per inch of every product we carry from Owens Corning, Johns Manville, Knauf, Rockwool, CertainTeed, and GreenFiber. He lives in a 1987 split-level near Boerne Stage Road that he’s insulating one room at a time on weekends, which means he’s learning our trade from both sides of the transaction.
